Harlem Capital Elevates and Expands Investment Team

by

We have big news today at Harlem Capital as we proudly announce the promotions of three HCP investors –  Brandon Bryant, Gabby Cazeau and Kelly Goldstein and we welcome our newest rising star Nicole DeTommaso.

Celebrating Change Makers

Defying the status quo since day one, Brandon Bryant has been walking-the-walk since he joined the firm as a Venture Partner in 2015. We’re honored to celebrate Brandon’s ascent from Venture Partner to Partner. A natural born entrepreneur, Brandon not only helped drive Harlem Capital forward, but also founded and ran Wall Street Paper, a digital creative outlet focused on lifestyle and culture for the modern gentleman. Brandon’s achievements include sourcing our investment in Wagmo, launching Harlem Capital’s Angel Program, managing HCP’s brand and content, and launching Harlem Capital’s More Equity Podcast and Road to 1,000 newsletter. With his new title, Brandon will continue to exercise his unmatched creativity and entrepreneurial drive to source and lead deals and steward the Harlem Capital brand.

Gabby Cazeau, a rising star since September 2019, has been a big dreamer from the start. As an engineer, Gabby brings her love of the 0 to 1 building phase to lend her shoulder to HCP founders through the early iterative, product scaling phase. Gabby defines the rising tide for us all as she has grown from intern to Senior Associate to her newly appointed position as Principal. During her time at Harlem Capital, Gabby sourced Malomo for HCP and assisted in bringing the team to the finish line on many other deals including ParrotMob and CashDrop. In addition to deals, Gabby has led the Techstars partnership for HCP, the More Equity Pitch Competition, and helped launch the Angel Program. Gabby also crafted Harlem Capital’s core sales and growth playbooks. With her new title, Gabby will play an even bigger role on deals and will lead the charge on new program initiatives. To hear more about Gabby’s journey to VC and HCP, check out her interview on HCP’s More Equity Podcast.

Kelly Goldstein, who joined the firm in February 2020, has always been mission-driven to bring purpose and social impact to venture capital. During her time as Senior Associate, Kelly has been an unstoppable rising star, helping close numerous deals including Expectful and Wellory. Kelly also secured $3M of marketing services for portfolio companies through the Diversity Marketing Consortium (DMC) and led the development of marketing and talent playbooks for our founders. We are so proud to announce Kelly’s promotion from Senior Associate to Principal. As Principal, Kelly will take on more responsibility at the firm, from driving investment opportunities and supporting portfolio companies to leading new firm initiatives. To hear more about Kelly’s journey to VC and HCP, check out her interview on HCP’s More Equity Podcast.

As early believers in the vision of Harlem Capital, Brandon, Gabby and Kelly have devoted countless hours to driving our mission forward. We honor their grit and count ourselves lucky to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them to continue positively impacting the world. Onward change-makers, we are doing it!

Opening New Doors

Nicole DeTommaso is our newest rising star, assuming the role as Senior Associate. Hailing from an investment banking background, Nicole is made of momentum and is already evolving the venture capital and startup ecosystems. Nicole first joined the team as an intern in Summer 2020, before returning as a Venture Fellow in the following cohort. Passionate about wanting to join the HCP family full-time, Nicole created and presented a 10-page deck titled ‘Why ME?!’, pitching herself to the firm and the value-add she could bring to the table (stay tuned for a future blog post detailing her pitch and her path from traditional finance into VC). In her new role, Nicole will be spending her time sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, supporting portfolio companies, and expanding Harlem Capital’s platform. Onward and Upward

“There is nothing more important than talent as investors as that is truly your only asset. Having incredibly smart people take an early bet on our vision was so rewarding and I am glad that we can now reward them for taking that risk.  I am grateful for our team as they have become my family and I am glad to have Nicole join that family,” says Henri Pierre-Jacques, Managing Partner of Harlem Capital.

“Congratulations to the team for the well-deserved promotions! Brandon has contributed to building Harlem Capital since day one and has been a huge differentiator for us in the market. Gabby and Kelly were both outstanding interns who continue to exceed expectations every day. As we continue to see great talent through our intern pipeline, Nicole found a way to stand out and was an easy hiring decision. We are so grateful to have this incredible team,” says Jarrid Tingle, Managing Partner of Harlem Capital.

“I believe that it’s dedicated, passionate groups of people who change the world. It’s the founders we get to work with and support every day and this incredible HCP team. I’m so thankful to be part of this team and cherish the work and love the energy we bring to it each day. As we grow, I’m so excited to find more ways to bring people and this ecosystem together,” says Gabby Cazeau, Principal at Harlem Capital.

“Applying to the Harlem Capital internship program in 2018 was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I am hugely grateful to be part of this dynamic and supportive team, driven by purpose and passion. It is a privilege to be able to grow with the firm and build alongside Henri, Jarrid, Brandon, Gabby, Nicole, and our inspiring founders. Looking ahead, I am eager to continue to further our mission to change the face of entrepreneurship and investing for years to come,” says Kelly Goldstein, Principal at Harlem Capital.

We’re excited to continue growing and helping more diverse founders within the VC and tech ecosystems. If you believe in our mission to change the face of entrepreneurship, keep an eye out for future opportunities to join our team via our Internship or Angel Programs.
