The HCP Platform Hits New Heights: Melody Hahm’s Promotion to Director

by

We’re delighted to usher in the new year with an exciting announcement – the promotion of Melody Hahm to Director of Platform and Community.

Melody is a dynamic and integral member of the Harlem Capital team. Since joining in summer 2021, she has exemplified a unique blend of strategic thinking, brand-building prowess, and deep curiosity to lead the firm’s platform role. Melody’s purview spans a wide range of responsibilities for the firm and its portfolio, including spearheading brand and content, post-investment support, and leading tentpole initiatives like our founder summit and AGM.

Melody has a special ability to find like-minded partners to engage with across a variety of opportunities, including business development and event collaboration. Under Melody’s direction, the HCP platform has provided our founders with six-figure savings on imperative operations for their businesses.

In her two and a half years at the firm, Melody launched Harlem Capital Homecoming, the firm’s annual two-day founder summit, with speakers including Nextdoor CEO Sarah Friar, finance titan Lisa Mensah, and Bonobos founder Andy Dunn, to name a few. She also helmed our first in-person Annual General Meeting for LPs, and is leading the ideation and execution of this year’s event.

Melody created Harlem U, a tactical content series exclusively for HCP portfolio founders with guests like Head of Growth at TikTok, VP of Design at Nike, Founder of Maven Clinic, and many more. She has also been integral in orchestrating our community events across New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Dallas, Austin, Mexico City, and Bogota, among others.

Under Melody’s guidance, our revamped “More Equity” podcast is now published on YouTube, and recently hit over 45,000 unique listens. She has accelerated our reach and strategy for Harlem Capital’s monthly “Road to 1,000” newsletter, making it a must-read for anyone in the diverse VC and tech landscape.

The Next Era of Platform

Melody’s prior experience as an accomplished business journalist covering entrepreneurship and venture capital equips her with the ability as a strong storyteller, communicator, and bridge builder for the firm.

As Melody steps into her new role as Director, we have every confidence that she will bring her fresh perspective to achieve even greater accomplishments. Melody’s promotion is a reflection of Melody’s ability to evolve Harlem Capital’s core priorities, catalyze one-to-many programming and content-sharing initiatives, and build upon the firm’s pioneering thought leadership.

“Melody has been an exceptional asset to Harlem Capital. Her passion and executional ability continue to uplift the firm, our portfolio companies, and our broader community. We are thrilled to announce her well-deserved promotion to Director of Platform & Community!” says Jarrid Tingle, Managing Partner of Harlem Capital.

“Melody has really elevated our capabilities to help our founders and connect to the HCP community. It has been great to see the enhanced quantity and quality of our resources, externally and internally.  I can’t believe 2.5 years have already gone by, she’s been a pleasure to work with,”  says Henri Pierre-Jacques, Managing Partner of Harlem Capital.

Be sure to follow Melody on LinkedIn and X to stay up to date on her takes on the diverse ecosystem, insights as a working mom, and passion for Asian representation across media and beyond.

We’re excited to continue growing and helping more diverse founders and operators within the VC and tech ecosystems. If you believe in our mission to change the face of entrepreneurship, apply to our Summer 2024 Internship by February 6.
