Meet Harlem Capital’s Spring 2019 Intern Class
by Harlem Capital
Dear Harlem Capital Family,
We are pleased to announce Harlem Capital’s 2019 Spring Intern Cohort.
This intern class has 2 MBA students, 1 undergraduate student, and 2 full-time employees. The students come from Wharton, Tuck and Yale, while the employees come from Viacom and VICE. The interns’ experiences include consulting, finance and media.
The applicants were chosen from a pool of over 240 applications, 34% of which were women and 63% Black and Latinx.
We also have 2 new fellows who were Winter 2019 interns taking on a more senior role at the firm. They will help oversee our fifth intern class, which was our largest application pool to date. Please join us in welcoming them.
Some of the things this class will be focused on include: diligence on new deals, sourcing, helping portfolio companies, developing industry reports, improving internal fund processes and writing article series. One of the articles will be on “A Week in the Life of a HCP Intern” as we are often asked what our interns do so we want to share their experiences. We try to balance our intern program with the needs of the fund and the interest of the interns. A few reasons interns said they joined HCP include:
“I wanted to learn how to support diverse founders building incredible products and services and how to invest in their vision for the future.” — Gabby Cazeau
“I wanted to understand how capital allocation to diverse founders can impact inequality of opportunity.” — Alexandra Sing
“I applied so I could use my privilege to support amazing talent that’s been historically underutilized and undervalued” — Sam Hasty
We are fortunate to have such passionate individuals help further push this mission. We will be taking the summer intern class off as this is our fifth straight class, but fall 2019 applications will open in June so please be on the lookout.
Regards,
The Harlem Capital Team
